The March Smile (1995)
I've always like the mood and chords of this song. It is dark and complex, but lush and melodic at the same time. This harkens back to that sweet time when I was doing music 100% for my own enjoyment, before I started taking it (perhaps) too seriously.
I like the dreamy chorus effect on the vocals, along with the organ put through my new wah-wah pedal and, finally, the vibe-rich old-school drum machine sound. I made the symbal swells by turning the volume on the keyboard up as my fingers rapidly played the sample on my $49 pawn-shop keyboard. :-)
Sometimes, somehow, the best effects are those you have to create out of blissful limitations...
